weekend update by danban

the non-government/non-avery team FINALLY had our post-holiday happy hour! i was slightly disappointed that more people didn't show but we had a great little crew to hang with for a few hours on friday. mark actually made it to a happy hour and even joe and michelle dropped by which was awesome of them. lj and i had some gooooood conversations while the others were slowly dropping by. loverly happy hour/dinner then i turned into an old lady and went home and to sleep so i could be ready to drag myself out of bed at 6:30 on saturday morning.

apparently my legs were NOT ready for saturday and i was seriously feeling their exhaustion on the run portion of our workout. we did the carlsbad brick where we ride 5 miles and run 1.5 miles and repeat. so i did three loops of the workout and by the third run my legs had finally given into the fact that i was NOT stopping!! the ride was a little different than our usual route cause coach trent (my favorite coach) decided to spice it up with a nice "little" hill. which means we had a nasty little hill to climb on each circuit. and there were two bike circuits per complete cycle. it was really fun though to work out with jessica cause i'd push her on the cycle (yes, that is my strength with my beautiful Guru) and she'd push me on the run. she and donivan are SO much fun to train with! i'm excited that they're going to start working out with me on tues and thurs.

helping out with third weekend turned out to be a LOT more work than i'd bargained for and a lot more exhausting than i imagined. it was GREAT to see team #18 kickin ass and having a great time!! i loved spending saturday evening and sunday afternoon with them. and as much as i complain about all the shopping, prep work, etc i did have a good time putting their meals together.

saturday night was awesome too cause i got to catch up with katie b and hang with brian. they were kind enough to wait for me at otb even though they were starving and i have to admit, so was i. so i had bri order me a beer and by the time i got there, it was just being delivered! we ate, chatted, and just generally caught up on life. i hadn't seen katie b in FAR too long so it was great to spend some time catching up. then bri and i went to hang at his place and watched the first season of heroes until 1:30 - that show is ADDICTING!! so, we now have to make it through the entire first season and i want to see the second too! that's the only problem with watching shows like that on dvd is that it's so easy to talk yourself into just one more and four hours later wonder why you're still sitting on the couch!!

I am posting this for all my girls out there who sometimes forget all these wonderful things about themselves as I know that I sometimes forget and it's nice to have a reminder!

Women have strengths that are truly amazing.
They bear hardships and they carry burdens, but they hold happiness, love and joy.
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous.
They fight for what they believe in.
They stand up to injustice.
They don't take 'no' for an answer when they believe there is a better solution.
They go without so their family can have.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends get awards.
They are happy when they hear about a birth or a wedding.
Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They grieve at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart.
Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors.
They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they care about you.
The heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning.
They bring joy, hope and love.
They have the compassion and ideas.
They give moral support to their family and friends.
Women have vital things to say and everything to give.

HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE FLAW IN WOMEN, IT IS THAT THEY SOMETIMES FORGET THEIR WORTH .

I had a really hard time on Saturday's brick too. I think I wasn't fully recovered from Carlsbad. Guess it takes a little longer than I thought.

And just so you know--guys can be awesome too! :P
